To my son, from your father

To my son, from your Father

As the sun arose in the morning and the house was full of us preparing for our day, there would always be the one consistent saying as you walked out the door.

It went – Love you Dad- Love you Pat – be safe and drive careful

No love is greater than that of a father for his son. Every father should remember that one day when his son will follow his example instead of his advice. It was not the flesh and blood, but the heart that made Patrick and I Father and Son.

You don’t raise heroes, your raise sons. If you treat them like sons, then they will become heroes even if it is only in your eyes.

Patrick, as your father, my first priority was to keep you safe and help you set and attain your goals and develop self-confidence and strength.

Patrick, you achieved those goals and extreme confidence. You out grew my lap, but never my heart.

Patrick, no son could have ever been more respectful to your mother and father. You always knew what to say to make us feel better.

Patrick loved his brothers: Jamie, Steven, and Nick unconditionally. Patrick was our hero and rock in life and will continue to be in death.

You have left behind many broken hearts not only family, but friends beyond belief. You are a very special man who touched the hearts of so many.

You knew we loved you and I know you loved us. Mrs. Conway said you would always say Dad’s my man’s! Son, I was your man and you were mine. The pain of losing you will forever remove a piece of my heart and soul.

My dear son, your death will not be in vain. We will find the way in which you will guide us. God was ready for you and you for Him. In Matthew 19 - 14 Jesus said “let the children come to me and do not stop them.” Patrick, I take great pleasure in knowing you read and studied the Bible and that you knew Jesus.

The day you were born you cried and we rejoiced. In death we cry for you and we know you are now rejoicing.

There may have been a day and time in my life where I feared death, but son no longer do I fear as I know you will be there for me in heaven as you were on Earth.

There were no good-byes and only God Knows why. Where you used to be there is a hole in which I walk around all day and fall in at night. I miss you like hell. Some may think it is too painful to remember, but Patrick you are too precious to forget.

I pray for your family and friends.

I pray for Nicole Conway.

I pray for Lily, Jamie, Steven and Nick.

You were faithful to all you loved, family and friends. We will always carry you in our hearts. You are no longer a trophy here on Earth, but a trophy to the heavens. Your future on earth was bright and we all knew you were headed for big things. This world was not your home. You were just passing through long enough to touch the people around you.

My son, my rock, my best friend, I will love and cry for you every day until we meet again. My heart bleeds for my baby. Thank you Patrick, not for becoming a man, but for teaching me how to become one.

Good night Pat - Good night Dad.
